Crunchy potato buns! (Burger bun alternative)
Ever had burgers but no buns? Why not try this alternative to bread.
- Take 2 whole medium, washed potatoes and pierce the skins with a fork a few times each.
- Cook in the microwave for 5 minutes then turn over and cook for 5 minutes more.
- Slice each in half to make bun halves.
- Put a heavy-based frying pan on medium heat.
- Season the inner sides of the potatoes well.
- Add a little oil to the pan and carefully place potatoes in a square, seasoned side down.
- Take a pot big enough to cover all the potatoes, place it on top and press down just enough to crush the potatoes slightly.
- Fry for 4-5 minutes on each side till a good crispy layer is achieved.
