Quick Baking and Heating Tip

If you enjoy baking bread or pizzas this is a must. Next time you're in B&Q (other DIY stores are available) nip into the garden section and pick up a 400mm square granite slab. Note I said B&Q as it is where most people frequent for DIY but if you go to a builders supply you will pay half the price, so keep that in mind as this is also a money-saving tip. Once you have one it will last for life, when I got mine I bought 2 in case it cracked or broke, 20 years on I still have both.

Anyway, after giving it a wash and allow to dry thoroughly dust it with flour and pop this on the shelf of your oven. Bake pizza or bread directly on this for a much better end product and flavour. You must preheat your oven a good 30-45 minutes beforehand.

The second part of this tip is that after baking and the oven is turned off, your oven becomes like a storage heater and will help warm your house for a lot longer than usual.
